Oh my sweet friend, I want to wish you the happiest of Mother’s Days today! Whether you have a bun in the oven− two, four or more little ones running around to love− I want to say you are doing an incredible job! Not a single step of motherhood is easy and I’m encouraging you to keep up the amazing work!!
As a little something special I wanted to remind you today, not of your motherhood, but of your status as God’s child… it’s not normally what we think of on Mother’s Day, but I came across this song by Steffany Gretzinger, “Cecie’s Lullaby”. The first time I heard it I thought it was a song from a mother to her daughter; but as I continued to listen to the song I discovered that it’s actually written as a song to us— God’s children, from our very own Heavenly Father.
While God is our father, he created men and women in his image, and he instilled different qualities of himself in us. That means every tender touch, thoughtful act, every boo-boo kissed, every protective hug, every tear wiped; each encouraging whisper and every vigilant night you’ve spent… those are attributes and abilities that he instilled in you, his daughter. We got those instincts from him. He is our father and our mother. One of my favorite verses is Psalm 91:4:
“He will cover you with his feathers and under his protective wings you will find refuge.”
That is such a motherly picture to me. Warm and safe. Today I want you to take just a moment, take a break, to be held by our Father, just the same as you hold your children, he is holding you. I invite you to click this link and listen to “Cecie’s Lullaby”. If you’re unable to listen to it right now I’d love for you to read through the lyrics below. You are so loved and so cherished. Happy Mother’s Day ❤
Call my name
And I will answer
All you need
It’s here inside my arms
Just breathe
And you’ll be safe and sound with me
No one knows you better than me
No one’s been a better friend
So rock-a-bye baby
Come and rest
You’ve been tired lately
Lay your head down
Don’t you think, baby
I know best
I’ve been a father
For a long time
Call my name
And I will listen
All you need
It’s here inside my arms
Just sleep
And you can find your rest in Me
No one knows you better than me
No one’s been a better friend
So rock-a-bye baby
Come and rest
You’ve been tired lately
Lay your head down
Don’t you think, baby
I know best
I’ve been a father
For a long time
No one knows you better than me
No one’s been a better friend
